Ridgerunners are reclusive sentient humanoid creatures that dwell mainly in the Killridge Mountains of Dang.

They value fruit above all other things. They are also very quick and good at climbing.

Appearance

Ridgerunners are short and thin, and have pointed ears.

Culture

Each year, swarms of ridgerunners come to the Green Hollows to steal fruit from the Hollowsfolk.

They are also fond of poetry, though the subject matter is almost entirely fruit. Ridgerunners are not very dangerous, as it is said that as long as you are not a fruit, a ridgerunner won't eat you. But they can be bribed or deceived with fruit to do almost anything. They joined Gnag the Nameless' army during the Wingfeather War because he offered them storehouses full of fruit.

It is unknown if they live in groups or have family bonds, but it is likely since Throne Warden Janner Wingfeather met a group of them slaying trolls.

History

Zouzab Koit

At an unknown date in the Second Epoch, numerous ridgerunners invaded the Green Hollows and set fire to the Outer Vales. About one hundred miles of orchards were destroyed by the fire. They were driven out by Connolin Durga. A book was written about this event titled Connolin Durga: Serving a Bowl of Pain to Ridgerunners.

In 3/111, a book was about ridgerunners was published titled The Scourge of the Hollows.

In 4/274, there was a notable raid on the Green Hollows known as the Ridgerunner Raid of 274.

After the Great War, Gnag the Nameless hired some ridgerunners such as Zouzab Koit to search for the Jewels of Anniera in Skree.

In 452/4, many ridgerunners were recruited by Gnag the Nameless to hunt for trolls that left his army. A group of thirty-two ridgerunners were hunting for trolls, but were misled by High King Kalmar Wingfeather into believing that there was storehouse of fruit east of a shoe-shaped lake. They then abandoned their hunt in search for this fruit, and found it in 5/17. This was known as the Fithyhoop Quandary.

In 452/4, many ridgerunners joined Gnag the Nameless' army during the Battle of the Hollows in exchange for fruit.
